for approximately 30,000 highly skilled and highly paid jobs

The sector is composed of both brand name drug companies and
generic drug companies located primarily within, but not limited to
the province of Ontario and Quebec. According to Stats
Canada, "the pharmaceutical industry is second after the
Information Technology (IT) sector in R&D intensity.
Thirty-one pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies are listed in
Research Infosource's Top 100 Corporate R&D Spenders
2009 in Canada."
